First Views of London & HotelI took a £36 taxi back to my hotel. Seeing London for the first time was like looking at a whole new world with brand new eyes. Even the taxis were impressive to see! The Victorian architecture was so different and magnificent in comparison to what I am used to. Everything was so impressive, from the cars to the people to the roads themselves. I dropped off my luggage started my day.
The first thing I did today was visit Buckingham Palace, to see the changing of the guards. I waited for about 20 minutes trying to enjoy the frigid and windy air, until finally the faint sound of drums grew louder and louder. The process was quite long, but definitely a sight to see. There were over a hundred guards: guards with instruments, guards on horses, and walking guards with their large guns. The history of Buckingham Palace can be traced back to James I, who established what is now the Buckingham Palace garden. |
Back to the Hotel, and then London EyeAfter the British Museum, my exhaustion had finally hit me so I headed to the hotel to get some sleep at around 5:00
When I woke up, I wanted to take a ride on the London Eye while I was still close. My skip-the-line ticket costed £28, and the total time for the ride was around 45 minutes. It was so amazing to be able to see the new city that I had been exploring all day from such an angle. The city looked amazing from so high, and I was able to see things that I had seen earlier, such as Big Ben and the Tower Bridge. After my ride, I looked through the souvenir ship that was at the base of the London Eye. I walked through the streets just to take some time to absorb and enjoy the fact that I was actually in London. I took a taxi back to to the hotel after a busy and tiring day. |
