Tower of LondonI visited the Tower of London, where I walked freely through different exhibits where I could learn about different historical events that had occurred there. I explored torture chambers, art, and armor that was actually used in the time period. It was so unreal to walk down halls and down winding staircases where people in history had walked, and to see objects and the buildings as a whole where these people had actually been. I also got to see the Crown Jewels, where I snuck a few photos.
The Crown Jewels consist of a collection of 141 ceremonial objects that were worn by kings and queens at their coronation ceremonies. These items include crowns, sceptres, orbs, swords and robes, and many other priceless objects. From the admissions line, the Tower of London has a perfect view of structures in London, such as the Tower Bridge and the "Cheese Grater" building. The tower itself has amazing architecture. My admission costed £25.00. |
Westminster AbbeyAfter lunch, I took a taxi to Westminster Abbey. My ticket for entry was £20, and I was given a phone-like device that you listen to, and it tells the history of the artifacts you are near.
I didn't mind standing in line (or queue) outside Westminster Abbey, because it gave me time to admire the gothic structure from many different views. The front and back of the building were constructed differently, but each side was equally beautiful. However it was very cold outside (good thing the line was short), so by the time I had even noticed I was admitted to start my tour. |
